SUNN Proudly Co-Hosts the 29th Visayas Conference of COMEPP VI

The State University of Northern Negros (SUNN) is honored to have co-hosted the 29th Visayas Conference of the Council of Management Educators and Professionals in the Philippines (COMEPP) VI on March 14-15, 2025, at Sugarland Hotel, Bacolod City. With the theme “Future-Ready Business and Management: Leadership and Innovation for a Sustainable Tomorrow,” the event brought together educators, professionals, and students to engage in meaningful discussions on emerging trends in business and management.

Representing SUNN University President Dr. Renante A. Egcas, Dr. Vergel S. Manipol, Dean of the College of Business and Management, expressed gratitude to all participants, organizers, and partners. He recognized their dedication to advancing business education and strengthening collaboration within the academic and professional community. Dr. Manipol also conveyed his appreciation for SUNN’s valued partnership with COMEPP, emphasizing how this collaboration continues to foster academic excellence and professional growth in business education.

Hon. Governor Eugenio Jose “Bong” Lacson shared his appreciation for hosting the event in Negros Occidental, highlighting its vital role in promoting sustainability and enhancing business education in the region. Meanwhile, Hon. Councilor Claudio Jesus Raymundo “Kalaw” A. Puentevella, representing Bacolod City Mayor Alfredo “Albee” Benitez, delivered an inspiring keynote address. He emphasized the importance of leadership and innovation in shaping a sustainable future and encouraged participants to be proactive in adapting to the ever-evolving business landscape.

The conference featured two insightful technical sessions led by distinguished industry experts. Mr. Ramon Uy Sr. of RU Foundry and Machine Shop Corp. spoke on “Eco-Innovation and Its Role in Business Growth,” sharing practical insights on sustainable manufacturing and the integration of technology in environmentally friendly business practices. Mr. Myles Joseph Sotelo, First Vice President and Sales Director of Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC), discussed “Green Finance and Impact Investing: Funding the Sustainable Businesses of the Future.” His session explored financial strategies and investment models that support sustainability and social responsibility in business.

To further enrich the learning experience, participants took part in an industry tour of two renowned companies. At Pepsi-Cola Products Philippines, Inc., they witnessed firsthand the company’s sustainable manufacturing processes and innovative business strategies. Meanwhile, a visit to BongBong’s Pasalubong Center provided valuable insights into local entrepreneurship, product innovation, and sustainable business practices in the growing pasalubong industry. Additionally, COMEPP National Officers and selected faculty members had the opportunity to visit RU Foundry and Machine Shop Corp., gaining a deeper understanding of eco-innovation and sustainable manufacturing technologies.

The 29th Visayas Conference of COMEPP VI was a great success, bringing participants together to share ideas, work together, and promote sustainable business practices. It reinforced the importance of preparing future business leaders with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in an evolving economy.
