The State University of Northern Negros made significant strides this week with two milestone events: the 2026 Budget Call and Stakeholder’s Forum and the 1st SUNN Publication Summit. These gatherings emphasized the university’s commitment to inclusive financial planning and the development of a dynamic student journalism community.
On February 19, 2025, the university hosted the 2026 Budget Call and Stakeholder’s Forum at AGM Hall, SUNN Hotel, SUNN Main Campus. The forum provided an avenue for faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders to collaboratively discuss budget proposals, review past accomplishments, and align financial strategies with the institution’s commitment and goals. Presentations covered key areas such as the achievements of FY 2024, updates on ongoing projects under the FY 2025 General Appropriations Act and Locally-funded projects, and proposed targets for FY 2026. The event reinforced transparency and inclusivity by facilitating an open forum where stakeholders could raise concerns and provide insights, ensuring that the university’s financial priorities are aligned with the needs of its community.
Meanwhile, the 1st SUNN Publication Summit, held on February 17-18, 2025, at the same venue, brought together student writers, broadcasters, and technical teams from various campus publications. Represented groups included The Northern Forum, Patubas of CAAS, CASanag of CAS, The Business Pulse of CBM, Technoscribe of CICTE, The Teachers’ Link of COED, Pukot of CFAS, and The COP of CCJE. Notable guest speakers such as Romeo Subaldo of Digicast Negros and Helen Cutillar of the Sagay City Tourism Office shared their expertise, inspiring participants to improve their craft. Additional insights were provided by Nadia Rose Sison, Christian Dian Bona, Rafael Amit Jr., Rvie Santillan, Renk Europeo, Venice Marie Hulleza, Archolito Pahuriray, and Jayel Cramen Jr., who contributed their knowledge on various aspects of campus journalism, publication management, and media production. The summit strengthened the foundations of campus media, encouraging a culture of responsible and impactful storytelling among student journalists.
With these two successful events, the State University of Northern Negros continues to advance institutional growth and academic excellence. The Budget Call and Stakeholder’s Forum set a strategic course for financial management, while the Publication Summit nurtured the next generation of ethical and skilled journalists. Moving forward, these initiatives will play a crucial role in shaping the university’s development, ensuring that it remains a hub of innovation, transparency, and transformative education.
