The BSEd major in Mathematics is a four-year degree program designed to prepare students to become globally competitive licensed mathematics teachers. It provides numerous opportunities for students to improve their Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge (TPACK) in mathematics. The program combines aspects of mathematics foundation with an understanding of the nature of mathematics, language in mathematics education, affective aspects of mathematics learning, technology in mathematics education, mathematical problem solving, mathematical learning assessment, foundation, theories, and principles of teaching to develop secondary mathematics teachers equipped with content and pedagogy. Through field study courses and student teaching experiential learning, it also prepares graduates for real-world work environments. Students are also introduced to business and finance mathematics in order to develop their entrepreneurial mind, as well as foreign language in order to prepare graduates for the global demand for teachers. Likewise, program graduates are equipped with fundamental knowledge in conducting action research in education, preparing them for graduate studies and careers as researchers in the field. Furthermore, it is expected that the graduates will embody the NONESCOST brand of education, which includes the ability to demonstrate proficiency, mastery, and application of content, pedagogy, and technological knowledge in the chosen field and exhibit exemplary character, proactiveness, and cultural responsiveness to the needs of the community.
