SUNN Weekly Wrap-Up: Futures of Marine Reserves Explored Through Dual Dive Activities at SUNN

Through its effort to capacitate its students, faculty, and staff, the College of Fisheries and Allied Sciences held a dive training on April 2-4, 2025. This ongoing effort is a testament of the college’s commitment to equipping students with industry-ready skills, ensuring their preparedness for professional career upon graduation.

Consecutively, the State University of Northern Negros through its ongoing project “Futures of Philippine Marine Reserves”—funded by the Philippines Futures Thinking Society and implemented with the support of the Sagay City Environment and Natural Resources Office (SCENRO)—organized an evaluation dive for its faculty and staff from April 5-6, 2025 at Sagay Marine Reserve. This project is the university’s multi-component initiative centered on understanding the current trends surrounding the management and use of marine reserves, specifically the ecological and anthropological factors that directly impact such areas.

Both activities reflect the university’s strategic direction of integrating practical learning with forward-thinking research, fostering professionals who are not only competent in their fields but also deeply engaged in sustainable and science-based resource management.
