CULMINATION ACTIVITY OF THE CFAS-CHED STUDYPH PROGRAM

The State University of Northern Negros (SUNN), through the College of Fisheries and Allied Sciences (CFAS), recently celebrated the successful culmination of the CHED STUDYPH-funded program dedicated to sustainable mangrove management and community engagement. Led by former CFAS dean Dr. Quiresa Mae C. Montaño and supported by key faculty members, the program featured initiatives focused on mangrove-friendly aquaculture, biodiversity, and resource conservation.

The morning events included the launch of both the Mangrove-Friendly Aquaculture initiative also known as Fishyalan Sa Katunggan, and the Mangrove Biodiversity Museum, and Genetic Library.

Local officials and stakeholders attended to show their support for the program, including Sagay City Vice Mayor Hon. Leo Rafael Cueva, Sagay City SP Member Hon. Roldan Gamao, and CHEDRO VI Director Dr. Raul C. Alvarez Jr.

Highlights of the celebration included presentations from the Zoological Society of London-Philippines and discussions on community involvement in sustainable practices. The event concluded with a thanksgiving ceremony honoring recent CFAS board exam passers and a topnotcher, marking an important milestone for SUNN-CFAS
