Building Bridges Across Cultures: OISCA International Academy Visits the State University of Northern Negros

The State University of Northern Negros recently welcomed participants of the cultural student exchange program between OISCA International Academy and the City of Sagay. This longstanding partnership fosters understanding and friendship between Japanese and Sagaynon students, highlighting the power of collaboration in bridging cultural differences.

As part of their educational tour, the visiting students explored some of the university’s initiatives: the Mangrove-Friendly Aquaculture project, also known as Fishlayan sa Katunggan, the Mangrove Biodiversity Museum, and the Genetic Library. These visits showcased SUNN’s commitment to sustainability and innovative practices in coastal resource management, underscoring its role as a hub for learning and community development.

The Fishyalan Sa Katunggan gave the students hands-on insights into mangrove-friendly aquaculture practices. At the Mangrove Biodiversity Museum and the Genetic Library, they were introduced to the region’s rich marine biodiversity, exploring the diverse species supported by its mangrove ecosystem.

The university is honored to play a role in enriching the educational and cultural experiences of the OISCA participants, further demonstrating its dedication to global partnerships and the holistic development of learners.
