SUNN Weekly Wrap-Up: Career Fair Empowers Graduates, SUNN Seals Employability Pact with DOLE

SUNN Holds Career and Job Fair 2025: Preparing Graduates for a Values-Driven Future

The State University of Northern Negros (SUNN), through its Career Development and Placement Office and Student Affairs and Services Office, successfully held its Career and Job Fair 2025 from July 16–18, 2025, at the AGM Hall, Main Campus, Sagay City. With the theme “Gearing SUNN Graduates for the Workforce: Values-Driven, Futures-Ready Professionals,” the three-day event aimed to connect students and graduates with career opportunities and equip them with essential employment skills.

The opening program on July 16 featured messages from key university officials, including SSC President Heart Marie Salde, VP for Academic Affairs Judith S. Rabacal, Ph.D., and University President Renante A. Egcas, Ph.D. The keynote address was delivered by RM April T. Alon, RPSY, who focused on values re-orientation for workforce readiness.

On July 17, students participated in career workshops covering résumé writing, job interview preparation, and personality development. Esteemed speakers, including Ana Erica T. Avanceña, LPT; Roussel Justinne Esmeralda, RGC; and Philamert T. Pedriña, MAEd, provided valuable insights through engaging and interactive sessions.

The final day, July 18, featured the formal launch of the Job Fair, with representatives from government agencies, local employers, and partner institutions. SUNN’s collaboration with DOLE, PESO, Abanse Negrense, and other partners underscored the university’s commitment to building pathways from education to employment. A key highlight was the MOA signing between SUNN and DOLE, which strengthened ties for future workforce programs.

Guided by its vision for “globally recognized, futures-ready” graduates and anchored on its core values—Balance, Resilience, Integrity, Gender-responsiveness, Honesty and Transparency, and Technovation—SUNN continues to empower its students to thrive in a competitive labor market while contributing meaningfully to national development.

SUNN and DOLE Region VI Seal Partnership to Boost Student Employability

The State University of Northern Negros (SUNN) also successfully held a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) Signing Ceremony with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region VI on July 18, 2025, at the SUNN Board Room.

The agreement marked the beginning of a strategic partnership focused on enhancing student and graduate employability through job fairs, labor education, and skills training programs. This collaboration supports key Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 4, SDG 8, and SDG 17) and reinforces SUNN’s RISEN UP Agenda on People Development, Novelty in Practice, and Internationalization and Linkages.

Aligned with SUNN’s Gender and Development (GAD) initiatives, the partnership also advances SDG 5: Gender Equality by promoting inclusive employment practices.

The event was organized by the Career Development and Placement Office, Guidance Office, and the Student Affairs and Services (SAS) Office, and was attended by SUNN administrators, DOLE key officials, and community stakeholders.
