SUNN Weekly Wrap-Up: A Week of Celebration, Inclusion, and Empowerment at the State University of Northern Negros

The first week of March was filled with vibrant celebrations at the State University of Northern Negros, highlighting both women’s empowerment and agricultural celebration. On March 3, 2025, the university officially launched the National Women’s Month Celebration. As part of this, on March 6, 2025, the Gender and Development and Inclusion Office hosted a National Women’s Month Kick-Off Event at SUNN Hotel’s AGM Hall with the theme “Serbisyo para sa Kababaihan at Kaalyado Nito.”  The service fair, in collaboration with government agencies and NGOs, provided student counseling, medical services, legal consultations, and other essential support for students, staff, and community members. This initiative reinforced SUNN’s commitment to honoring women’s empowerment, raising awareness, and advocating for gender equality.

Meanwhile, from March 5 to March 8, 2025, the College of Agriculture and Allied Sciences (CAAS) brought the community together for CAAS Week 2025, with the theme “CAAS Under One SUNN: Rooted in Tradition, Growing in Innovation.”  The celebration kicked off with a lively caravan for Ganda ng CAAS candidates, a field demonstration, Palarong Pinoy, and a CAAS Band Performance. The second day highlighted the Future Leaders of the Philippines (FLP) Day, engaging students in leadership activities. Day three featured adrenaline-pumping events such as Sampok/Sabong, Pato Hunting Blindfolded, and an Extemporaneous Speech Competition, with the highlight being the glamorous Ganda ng CAAS: Drag Queen Edition. The final day focused on sustainability with a Tree Planting Activity in Quinalumsan, followed by an Alumni Gathering, Alumni vs. Students CAAS Games, and a grand Latino & Latina-themed closing night with a Raffle Draw.

These celebrations demonstrated SUNN’s dedication to inclusive community engagement, student empowerment, and honoring both cultural and academic excellence.
