The Bachelor of Science in Fisheries Program will provide knowledge to students as required in the Fisheries Code for proper fisheries and environmental management and sustainable/responsible fisheries and in the approved duties and competencies of fisheries professionals. The BSF Curriculum is designed to prepare well-rounded fisheries professionals with competencies in the science and practice of fisheries science. The curriculum is made up of: 1. General Education courses which are geared toward providing basic skills in the arts and sciences, 2. Fundamental courses which provide the fundamental knowledge in the field of arts and sciences, 3. Professional courses which provide the fundamental knowledge and skills on environmental management and conservation and adequate background in all aspects of fisheries, 4. Elective courses that will develop competence in the specific field of fisheries science and management freely chosen by a student from a given set of courses. The Objectives of the programwill provide students with the knowledge and skills along the field of sustainable and responsible fisheries management, to develop students’ competencies in the different areas of fisheries such as aquaculture, capture, processing technology and coastal management and train students on the aspects of research and extension works to become globally competitive fishery technologists
